Before and After

Another example of using a photo in an art journal page. This time, I enlarged the photo to fill the height of the page. This gave me the chance to pull your attention to the sweet little flower he is holding. I also decided to pull some of the background paper out and put it in his shirt to break up the solid blue. I finished it off by tracing the photo, this time, I used different colors for my outlines. :)

Target

Pin It Just a little insight for a Saturday morning. We can't 100% control whats around us... but we CAN control 100% what we put out there. Happy Saturday! :)

Before and After

I thought I would share a favorite method of mine to achieve fun, personal, art journal pages with photos. This one was tricky! I wanted to do a fun "Alice" themed page for the Mad Like A Hatter collection by OTBDS. I knew EXACTLY which pic I was going to use. The goofy one of me (wearing WAY TOO MUCH makeup) from this year's office Halloween party. I was even holding a tray that I could use for my tea cup. ;)

I took the original photo into photoshop, cut "me" out of the picture and began building it with pieces from the Hatter collection. I needed to cover the "bread" on the tray, so, I layered cut out pieces of darker background paper over the tray. I made sure to add the depth to the sides so it didn't look flat and awkward. I also included a reflection of the tea cup so the tray looked metallic.

I used the blender tool to smooth out the edges of my hair and used some lighting effects on my face. To finish it off and to continue with my personal style, I traced the features on my face so that it didn't look too much like a cut out photo. :)

Oh, the places you will go...

Pin It I know that blowing bubbles is such a simple thing... but, I'm amazed that my two-year-old can do it SO well! I think he can get at least 30 bubbles out of one dipping! I Love watching him carefully dip the stick WAY down into the bottle and hold the stick up to his mouth and blow... even the way he holds the stick, with his pinkie finger propping it for stability makes me smile.

Journaling: Last night I woke to you laughing... this wasn’t a little giggle, but, a full fledged belly laugh. I went to see what was so funny at three o’clock in the morning, only to find you sound asleep. It made me smile because I knew you were dreaming of good things. Was Dada chasing you with the tickle monster fingers? Was Momma dancing around the kitchen singing a goofy song? Or were you dreaming of things we could never imagine? Who knows. But I was happy to know that your imagination was playing a happy game with you and it made you laugh.

Balance?

Pin It Art Journal Page for my ARTchaeology of the Soul project: Week 14
Finding Balance in my life is a never ending battle. It seems like, once I start to see progress on one side of the scale, the other side tips over. It's only when I throw the scale to the wind, and all my efforts scatter out in front of me, is when I start to see the beauty in our chaos.

Products we love: Ebooks

Pin It I love ebooks. I love the fact that I can preview it, purchase it and then start reading within seconds. :) No more driving to the bookstore and hunting for the book, only to find out it's sold out... (for instance, I wanted 50 Shades of Grey to read on my trip to Arizona, but, NO ONE had it...)

I love the preview for this ebook I found today. And just in time for mother's day!!! A gift that keeps on giving, not only will my mother love it, but, we can read it together/at the same time since it's a PDF. Check out this amazing little video intro/preview! You can find the book here

Art Journaling 102: “I Don’t Have Anything to Journal About” Myth-Buster Prompt #5
I Randomly chose five of my female friends on facebook (that's 5 F's too!) for this journal entry.
Instead of describing them with five words, I wrote each one a little note. Loved this prompt.

Art Journal - May 1 2012

I really can't think of anything to write for this post, as, all my thoughts went into my journal! SUCCESS! :) Most of the page was built with Tangible Plans pieces. LOVE Tangie Baxter's new system! So easy to build unique custom journal pages. A lot more fun than pen and paper I must say. ;)
