So, I'm into my third week of my 60 day Juicing Journey. :) I wanted to give a full report on what I've experienced so far. It's what I'm calling my BIG START which has already produced so many little blessings.
My FAVORITE Juice recipe, what I lovingly call,
The Hot Pink Drink:
2 cups of purple cabbage
2 green apples
1" ginger root
This juice is awesome for breakfast or as a pick-me-up snack in the middle of a long day. It's color alone will put a smile on your face (if you like pink), and the flavor is super sweet and depending on the size of your lemon and lime, can be tart at times. (also fun with a shot of vodka on a girls night...wink wink)
Juicing has been 90% of my diet. There have been a couple times where "life" happened .. I forgot my juice or overslept and didn't have time to make it. So, In those cases, I ordered the healthiest meal off the lunch menu at work...a salad.
I decided at the very beginning, that, I wouldn't beat myself up or quit my journey if something didn't go as planned. There are several things to keep in mind when going through a life style change: 1 - old habits die hard. 2 - old habits will die... if you work at it. :)
Sure, there were days that I didn't want juice, or, the negative thoughts out weighed the good ones... and on those days... I had to remind myself that those thoughts were just as toxic as the food I had been eating and eventually, they would be gone from my body as well. :) There were mornings that I just sat and let the sun beam down on my face... and after a couple of minuets... my mind was clear and positive again.
I also found that, by documenting this process and sharing it with the people around me, I've created an accountability factor. I've been blessed with so many people who are constantly checking in with me to see how it's going, or, people who have decided to start juicing themselves! Inspiration is so powerful!
Now that I'm starting to see results, and FEEL results, I have been motivated even more. I weighed myself at the very beginning and I weighed 155. I am proud to report that I am now weighing in at 142. And that loss has happened only because of the change in my diet. I no longer drink soda, or any drink with a sweetener in it. I only eat raw fruits and vegetables that are juiced 90% of the time.
I've noticed a big difference in my hair and my skin. My hair feels fuller and looks fuller, and my skin looks clearer. The black heads on my face, around my nose, that I just couldn't get rid of, have disappeared on their own. My body is truly cleaning it's self from the inside out.
I've also noticed a wonderful change that I didn't anticipate. Our family time as started to move away from the tv and into the kitchen. We help each other shop for fresh produce, my son loves to help wash the fruits and veggies, and my husband and I have had a blast together, creating our own juice recipes. I'm glad we are setting a wonderful example for our son. We've already witnessed him make healthier choices for himself... when given the option of french fries or apples... he chooses apples every time. It makes this Momma proud.
So, my next steps, over the next several weeks, are to:
1 - continue the journey of course.
2 - continue to document and make notes of changes and experiences.
3 - Start a work-out schedule.
4 - And possibly invest in some new clothes... the ones I have are falling off! ;)
